The Weight of Chaos at GMIT CCAM, Galway in May 2017 was a series of installations which allowed the viewer to observe the merging of dimensions, the eye bearing witness to the moment when 2-dimensional drawings take their place on a 3-dimensional object. Hennessy used natural elements (rushes, peat, twigs, berries) from around her home in Connemara to represent connection in the natural world. Her hand-drawn animation installation is a juxtaposition of natural and inorganic imagery. Singularly the frames are a moment in time but together in a sequence they become a movement of growth in space.
Hennessy is working on a multi-disciplinary collaboration of visual art based on Liz Quirke’s debut poetry collection which will be published by Salmon Poetry in Spring 2018. Hennessy is responding to the poems in the collection through visual art and film. More details about the project will follow in early 2018.
